Mic Thompson

MIC THOMPSON recently returned from Greece where he choreographed BEST OF BROADWAY for Hyatt Hotels. He also spent time in Japan where he choreographed MICKEY’S ADVENTURELAND MARDI GRAS for Disneyland Tokyo. The Disney organization has long been a supporter of Mic Thompson’s choreography career and selected Mic to choreograph their live stage shows which premiered with the animated feature films MONSTERS, INC and THE EMPEROR’S NEW GROOVE at the El Capitan Theatre. These shows introduced the SCARTETTS and the GROOVE dancers. He choreographs commercials for CLAIROL and KRAFT and for recording artist BROOKE ALLISON and the OFFSPRING, he choreographed their music video, SHE’S GOT ISSUES.

Mic began dancing at age 10 and by the time he was 15 he was named the U.S. Ballroom Latin Champion. He relocated to Las Vegas and began his professional career as a dancer. Soon after, he was “discovered” by Debbie Allen and was invited to join the cast of the popular series FAME. Mic’s career took off as he danced with his favorite recording artists including Michael Jackson, Diana Ross, Paula Abdul, Wynona Judd, Vanessa Williams, Tracey Ullman and Jennifer Lopez. He is a regular on the Dick Clark’s TV series YOUR BIG BREAK, Comedy Central’s THE MAN SHOW, Jay Leno’s THE TONIGHT SHOW and the feature films THE MAJESTIC, THE WEDDING PLANNER and DANCE WITH ME.

Mic started to establish his choreography career by working on shows for various Universities, soon after was offered the position of choreographer on the cable television series THE MICKEY MOUSE CLUB. The Disney people then asked MIC to choreograph for the PLEASURE ISLAND DANCERS who perform nightly at Pleasure Island in Orlando, Florida. He created PHANTOM LIGHT SHOW and 8-TRAX DISCO MEDLEY, and BOOT SCOOT BOOGIE. Cruise ships were next on Mic’s creative agenda, he has choreographed many different shows for Celebrity, Norwegian, Silver seas, Cunard and Royal Caribbean. He has created 5 different CIRQUE style shows which are unique and completely different from Cirque du Soleil. One of his five current shows “Cirque Pan”-based on Peter Pan- is the first production now appearing on the Norwegian SUN.

Mic was selected as Choreographer Of The Month for the special Millennium Issue of DANCE SPIRIT MAGAZINE. He has choreographed numerous shows for Las Vegas Showrooms including ILLUSIONIST MAGIC OF RICK THOMAS at the TROPICANA, SPLASH and JOE JACK SWING at the Riviera. MicThompson continues to explore new avenues for his choreography and he is developing original ideas for new shows.
