STEVEN
BUTLER embarked on his dance journey at the age
of 16. He saw contemporary
dance in videos and television shows, and began taking formal
lessons... His teachers
encouraged him to develop his amazing natural talent, and to
explore the field of choreography.
Soon,
he was asked to teach hip-hop at several dance studios in and
around his hometown in Dallas, Texas. Shortly after, he was accepted
into the dance program at Oklahoma City University, under the tutelage
of Jo Rowan, a former world-renowned prima ballerina and teacher.
Moving
to Los Angeles, Steven earned a scholarship to study at The Edge,
in Hollywood, where his training broadened to include tap, modern,
and salsa.
He has worked on numerous professional jobs including
Busch Gardens in Tampa Bay, Florida; Industrials for Kingston
Technologies, Qualcomm, Tanqueray, Pixar animation and Macy's;
Music videos with Ludacris, Macy Gray, Keesha, and Freda Simone;
TV shows for UPN, Fox Family, The Disney Channel, Nickelodeon,
ABC, NBC, and MTV.
Steven's choreography has won awards at numerous
conventions and competitions, as well as praise from dance studios
around the USA. He has choreographed for the NBA's Los Angeles
Clippers and Orlando Magic dance teams. Steven has also worked
with Spectra Management, choreographing videos, television, and
stage shows for multi-platinum recording artist Aaron Carter as
well as his sister Leslie and up-and-coming artist, Nonny. Most
recently, he has been working with new artist Alexandra Monir,
who opened for O-Town on their last summer tour.
Steven is busy
establishing himself as an artist and choreographer--studying
his craft while inspiring other young dancers to pursue their dreams
of dance--and applying technique to the mix!
